Defense asks judge to block evidence of ‘timeout’ in upcoming Martin murder trial

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Attorneys for Wesley Glenn Martin are asking a Floyd Circuit Court judge to reject prosecutors’ attempt to introduce evidence of alleged prior acts at his upcoming murder trial, arguing the request comes too late and would unfairly prejudice the defense. Interim committee reviews 2025 child fatality and near fatality report

The discussion was part of Monday's Interim Joint Committee on Families and Children meeting.FRANKFORT — In 2025, the state’s Child Fatality and Near Fatality Review Panel reviewed 72 child fatality cases in the commonwealth and 176 near fatal cases. On Monday, the Interim Joint Committee on Families and Children heard a presentation on the panel’s findings and policy recommendations. Pike man charged with animal torture after troopers find dead cats, starving dogs

Joseph NewcombSOUTH WILLIAMSON, Ky. — A Pike County man is facing animal torture charges after Kentucky State Police say they found multiple dead cats and several malnourished dogs at his property near South Williamson. According to a citation filed by Kentucky State Police Post 9, troopers responded Sunday to an animal welfare complaint at a home on New Camp Road. ARC, former CEO agree to nearly $4 million judgment in New York lawsuit

NEW YORK — Addiction Recovery Care and its former CEO, Tim Robinson, have agreed to a nearly $4 million judgment in a New York federal lawsuit brought by lender Clear Cove Opportunities Fund I. Under a proposed stipulated judgment filed with the court, ARC and Robinson consent to a judgment for breach of contract totaling $3.94 million. The amount includes more than $3.3 million tied to an Employee Retention Credit refund, interest on those funds and additional default interest.
