WASHINGTON, D.C. — A proposal to build a medium-security federal prison and prison camp in Letcher County is one step closer to becoming a reality, following an environmental review by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Mingo County man was arrested after police say he assaulted his daughter at a high school basketball game. Robert Jerome Warren, 48, of Williamson, was at Pike County Central High School for the 60th District tournament Tuesday night, when police say the attack happened. The arrest warrant says police have video of Warren dragging and pushing his daughter into a stairwell, then putting her in a corner in the stairwell and telling her not to move. NEON, Ky. — A Letcher County man currently under indictment in a pair of drug cases is back in trouble once again, after police raided his home following an undercover operation to buy drugs from him. Coy Lee Johnson, 55, of Neon, was arrested last Friday evening, after officers searched his home. Police obtained a search warrant after an undercover informant allegedly bought 1.5 grams of meth from Johnson on one occasion, and 2 grams on a second. PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pikeville psychiatrist currently under federal indictment for allegedly distributing drugs without a legitimate medical purpose now appears ready to enter a plea. Jason Noah Stamper, 52, of Coal Run Village, was arrested in December of 2022, after authorities raided his home and office. At that time, he was charged with drug trafficking and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia in Pike District Court.
