Martin County man sentenced for distributing meth
A Martin County man has been sentenced in a federal drug case. Cody Gene Spears, 30, of Lovely, pleaded guilty back in January to a single count of distributing more than 50 grams of meth. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors agreed to drop a related conspiracy charge. After evaluating his criminal history and offense level, Spears was facing a sentence of between 188 and 235 months in prison. Five arrested after KSP seizes pounds of drugs
BELFRY, Ky. — A Kentucky State Police drug investigation has resulted in five arrests and the seizure of a large amount of drugs. KSP detectives had developed information that two cars would be transporting drugs through Belfry last week. When the cars were spotted last Thursday, they were pulled over. Inside one of the cars were three Ohio men — Howard Burris, 20; Carnell Archey, 24; and Zavion McCallister, 23, all of Akron. Floyd man charged with trying to smuggle drugs into jail after arrest for trying to sneak drugs to inmates
GEORGETOWN, Ky. A Prestonsburg man who was arrested in Georgetown on a warrant accusing him of trying to sneak drugs to Floyd County inmates, found more trouble for himself when guards allegedly found him sneaking more drugs into the jail. Joseph Ryan Hammonds, 41, is accused of trying to deliver fentanyl to inmates in the Floyd County Detention Center back in March by putting fentanyl into a potato chip bag and leaving it where it could be found by a jail cleanup crew working along Route 680 at Harold.
