Amber Spradlin murder suspect granted second bond reduction
PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — The man accused of killing Amber Spradlin could soon be getting out of jail. On Friday, Special Judge Eddy Coleman agreed to a second bond reduction which his attorney has indicated in previous filings his client could meet. McKinney is accused of stabbing Spradlin to death at his father’s home on June 18, 2023. He had been held on a $5 million bond since his arrest in July 2024, but Judge Coleman agreed to lower his bond Dec. 1. McKinney, Mullins lose bid to be freed from home incarceration
PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Two defendants in case tied to the murder of Amber Spradlin have lost their bids to get out of home incarceration. Michael McKinney, 57, and Josh Mullins, 25, are each charged with eight counts of evidence tampering for allegedly trying to cover up the June 18, 2023, murder of Spradlin, whose body was found in McKinney’s home. McKinney’s son, M.K. McKinney, 25, is charged with her murder, as well as evidence tampering. Hearing in Stines murder trial set for next week
WHITESBURG, Ky. — A hearing has been scheduled in the case of former Letcher County Sheriff Shawn Mickey Stines. Stines is charged with murder for shooting Letcher District Judge Kevin Mullins multiple times in his chambers on Sept. 19, 2024. The entire incident was captured on security cameras. On Thursday, Special Judge Christopher Cohron scheduled a hearing in Letcher Circuit Court for 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18. PIKEVILLE, Ky. – For the 17th consecutive year, Community Trust Bank Inc. has earned the “Gold Lender Award” from the United States Small Business Administration as Kentucky’s top volume SBA 7(a) Community Bank lender in federal fiscal year 2024–25.
