East Ridge High School’s Carter Damron put on a scoring clinic for the inagural East Ridge Mountain Showcase.

The senior point-guard dropped 41 points in the game and set the record for most three-pointers made in a single game for the school with 12 total.

Damron saw an outpouring of congratulations from the community for his singular achievement, including the school’s Facebook page where they posted about his high scoring.

“We’re proud of you Carter,” the post read. “And know your name will be remembered in East Ridge Basketball History!”

Damron is currently talking with the University of Pikeville about taking part in its junior varsity program soon and East Ridge coach Adam Farmer says there will be more to come.

“I expect there will be more talking about Carter as the year goes on,” Farmer said Monday.

Damron’s record-breaking night was a cap on the Warriors win in the first annual Showcase.

Kentucky improved to 9-1 with a win over the Colgate Raiders this past week 78-67 in a game where the final score looked much different than the score at halftime, when Colgate had held their own trailing only 38-36.

Koby Brea, who shot 50 percent from the field overall, lead scoring for the Wildcats with 17 points, while Otega Oweh and Amari Wiliams both added 15 points with Jaxson Robinson adding 11 points, with six of those coming from back to back three-pointers.

And though Colgate held tight until halftime, it was in traditional beyond-the-arc fashion that Kentucky would pull away on a 14-2 spree. Very nearly atching Brea’s individual effort, the Wildcats shot 49 percent in the second half.

The Raiders, before a win against Vermont on Dec. 15, had dropped five straights games with their lose against the Wildcats.

Colgate’s Parker Jones scored 17 points to lead scoring for the Raiders.

Kentucky’s next matchup will be against Ohio State on Saturday, Dec. 21 in the CBS Sports Classic. The Classic began in 2014 with four teams taking part, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio State, and UCLA. The Wildcats have won five games since the beginning of those annual matchups – in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2023.
